PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a vehicle collided with a vehicle from the rear side from riding thereover and secure the deformation stroke of the rear section of the body of the vehicle which is necessary for absorbing an impact energy. SOLUTION: This rear body structure of an automobile comprises right and left rear side frames 4, 5 extending in the longitudinal direction, a rear floor panel 13 extending downward between both rear side frames 4, 5 and forming a spare tie pan 14 for storing a spare tire 21 in a rear upwardly tilted state, and a spare pan cross member 8 and a suspension member 10 (rear cross section 10d) extending in the lateral direction of the vehicle at the front of the spare tire pan 14 and having both right and left ends connected to the both rear side frames 4, 5, respectively. A jack-up stiffener 17 and a jack-up rod 18 are joined to the lower surface of the bottom surface rear center section 14b of the spare tire pan 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
