PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive assistance device and infrared projector which allows a driver of the vehicle to easily grasp a positional relationship between an object and vehicle with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The drive assistance device includes an infrared projector (12), infrared camera (13) and a display part (14). The infrared projector (12) casts infrared light ahead of a vehicle. The infrared camera (13) has sensitivity at least in an infrared area and takes images an object in front of a vehicle. The display part (14) displays images taken by the infrared camera (13). The infrared projector (12) projects on the surface of the object two shadows changing the spacing in response to a distance from the vehicle to the object when casting infrared light to an object existing in front of the vehicle.
