PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a tapered roller bearing and the tapered roller bearing which can reduce the agitation resistance of a lubricant in the bearing and can reduce the rotation torque of the bearing. SOLUTION: The retainer for the tapered roller bearing 14 has a large diameter-side annular part 15, a small diameter-side annular part 16 arranged coaxially with the large diameter-side annular part 15, pillar parts 17 arranged plurally in a substantially equidistant manner in the circumference to connect the large diameter-side annular part 15 and the small diameter-side annular part 16, and pocket parts 18 which are formed between the pillar parts 17 adjacent to each other in the circumference and which support tapered rollers 13 so that they can roll.
