PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic file management apparatus and an electronic file management method for managing an electronic file by conceptual folder units, and for making it easy to visually recognize its management circumstances. SOLUTION: An electronic file management apparatus for managing a file or a folder includes: a file change detection part for detecting such a fact that the file or the folder has been copied to a manageable place by an electronic file management apparatus and that the copied file or folder has been changed; and a virtual folder management part for associating the copied or changed file or folder with the file or folder as the origin of copy or change, and for managing it as a virtual folder.
