REVERSIBLE MODIFICATION OF MEMBRANE INTERACTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modification which reversibly inactivates the membrane interaction of a compound. SOLUTION: Provided is an amine containing compound having a substituted maleic anhydride covalently bonding to an amino group. A carboxymethyl maleic anhydride (CDM) or a 2-propionic-3-methyl maleic anhydride are cited as the preferable maleic acids. The modified compound is reactivated by exposing to an acidic pH environment of an endosome or lysosome after membrane permeation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
