ACID CATALYST FOR DEHYDRATION CONTAINING PHYTIC ACID AS EFFICACIOUS COMPONENT AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF ESTER OR ETHER USING CATALYST THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acid catalyst for dehydration which has high safety and a low corrosive property to a metal material such as stainless steel and at the same time which is economical and highly active and a method for manufacturing an ester or an ether using the catalyst.

SOLUTION: Phytic acid is used as an acid catalyst in place of conventionally used sulfuric acid for manufacturing various kinds of esters or ethers and the catalytic efficiency is heightened or the workability of post-treatment of a reaction solution is improved by a method of fixing phytic acid in a carrier with a high specific surface area or dispersing phytic acid with a nonionic surfactant having polyethylene glycols or polyethylene glycol chains as hydrophilic parts.
