<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor properly a prescribed object such as a pedestrian crossing a road, while keeping adaptability to inter-vehicle distance control. <P>SOLUTION: This object recognition device 1 for a vehicle is equipped with electromagnetic wave radiation reception means 14, 20 for radiating an electromagnetic wave, and receiving a reflected wave of the radiated electromagnetic wave; a target position data calculation means 27 for calculating data including a distance to a target and a lateral position based on data of the reflected wave received by the electromagnetic wave radiation reception means; and an object recognition means 30 for recognizing an object on the periphery of a vehicle based on a calculation result by the target position data calculation means. The object recognition means performs obstacle recognition by the first recognition mode to an object other than a prescribed object satisfying a prescribed condition on reception wave intensity in the electromagnetic wave radiation reception means, and performs obstacle recognition by the second recognition mode having higher lateral position responsiveness when the object is approaching than the first recognition mode relative to the prescribed object. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
