PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus capable of minimizing degradation in a horizontal resolution while keeping double sensitivity improvement when adding horizontal pixels, to provide its driving method and a digital camera. SOLUTION: The solid-state imaging apparatus includes an imaging area where a plurality of vertical CCD registers are arranged, first and second horizontal CCD registers for transferring signal charges from the vertical CCD registers in the horizontal direction, an inter-horizontal-register transfer gate for transferring some of the signal charges transferred to the CCD register to the second horizontal CCD register, an operation mode setting means for setting two operation modes, a driving means for driving the inter-horizontal-register transfer gate and the first and second horizontal CCD registers, and a signal processing means for processing output signals from the first horizontal CCD register, processing second signals to give phase delay for a half clock and combining and outputting the signals of two systems.
