PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1-bromo-3-fluoro-5-difluoromethylbenzene suitable for the production thereof on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: 3-Bromo-5-fluorobenzaldehyde is caused to react with a chlorinating agent to give 3-bromo-5-fluorobenzal chloride. Subsequently, the resultant 3-bromo-5-fluorobenzal chloride is caused to react with hydrogen fluoride to give 1-bromo-3-fluoro-5-difluoromethylbenzene. Thus, 1-bromo-3-fluoro-5-difluoromethylbenzene is readily produced inexpensively with high selectivity in a high yield. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
