PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric transformer which can ease assembling work or inspection work for a piezoelectric substance element. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric transformer includes: a piezoelectric substance element (102) wherein electrodes (106, 108) are formed on its external surface; a case (104) for housing the piezoelectric substance element; and terminals (110, 112, 114) arranged opposite to the electrodes. The case surrounds the piezoelectric substance element, and has such a space (104s) for assembling or inspecting the piezoelectric substance element that a first distance between the inner wall (104a) formed opposite to the electrodes and the inner wall excluding the vicinity of the terminal and the piezoelectric substance element is made larger than a second distance between the inner wall adjacent to the terminals and the piezoelectric substance element.
