PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus which adopts a tandem system and a beltless direct transfer system and is capable of stabilizing the conveying direction of a paper in a toner transfer area. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a plurality of pairs of a photoreceptor drum and a transfer roller and conveys the paper S in a nip portion formed by the photoreceptor drum and the transfer roller, to form an image on the paper S. The image forming apparatus includes side regulating plates 16a to 16d regulating one side portion of the paper S in its conveying direction A and at least a pair of a photoreceptor drum 11C and a transfer roller 13C are arranged so that they are inclined toward the side regulating plate 16d from a direction orthogonal to the paper conveying direction A on a conveying surface, to energize the paper S in the direction of an arrow A1.
