PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply a first voltage and a second voltage to a sustain electrode of a plasma display panel by a comparatively simple circuit configuration. SOLUTION: A voltage generation circuit 60 includes: a first voltage generation part 62 composed of a down converter having a first inductor L62 to generate a first voltage Vel; a second voltage generation part 64 having a second inductor L64 inductively coupled with the first inductor L62 to generate a second voltage Ve2 to be superposed to the first voltage Ve1; a switching element Q69 to output the generated voltage to the sustain electrode; and a gate control part 79 having a bootstrapping circuit including a diode D91 and a capacitor C91 to transmit a control signal for ON/OFF control to the switching element Q69. By repeating ON/OFF of the switching element in a prescribed period without drawing up power to the capacitor C91 of the bootstrapping circuit, voltages are applied to the sustain electrode.
