Specifically disclosed is a liquid crystal display device comprising a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the substrates. One of the substrates has a rectangular pixel electrode (15) when viewed from the display side, and the other substrate has a linear dielectric projection (24) overlapping a corner portion (10) of the pixel electrode (15) when viewed from the display side. At least one of the substrates has a corner portion light-blocking member (18) at a position where the corner portion (10) of the pixel electrode (15) and the linear dielectric projection (24) overlap each other.</p>
