PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish an optical detection method for bioarrays represented by DNA chips, which reduces a background. SOLUTION: The detection method of a target substance is a method for detecting the presence or the amount of the target substance in a sample solution by fixing the target substance contained in the sample solution on the surface of a light-transmitting board in a reaction vessel; reacting the target substance with a probe that specifically binds to the target substance; and detecting luminescence emitted from a luminescence substance on the target substance having been reacted with the probe, and characterized in that the sample solution contains light impermeable particles.
