PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a terminal methylene type enone is asymmetrically reduced to produce the corresponding alcohol of high optical purity. SOLUTION: The method for producing the optically active alcohol comprises an asymmetric reducing step such as formula (wherein, A1and A2represent each a phenyl group which may be substituted; R represents a methyl group or an ethyl group; and R1represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom).
