PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture covering method by which glossiness of a pattern surface is not inferior to conventional silver salt photography, gravure printing, copy using glossy paper or the like and rich gloss feeling and reality are given when used to a photograph or an oil painting picture. SOLUTION: Pattern adhering paper (adhering paper) 1 comprising a water-absorbing support 2, a water-soluble layer 3 provided thereon and a transparent thin film resin coat layer 4 provided thereon is used. The picture covering method has, in order, an adhering paper adhering process of adhering a thin film resin coat layer side of the adhering paper to an object to be adhered, a support peeling process of peeling the support by soaking the support of the adhering paper with water to dissolve the water-soluble layer with water, a cleaning process of removing a water-soluble material of the water-soluble layer remaining in the thin film resin coat layer, a heating fixing process of heating pressing the thin film resin coat layer in a state of being adhered to the object to be adhered, a solvent application process of applying a solvent for dissolving a surface of the thin film resin coat layer to the thin film resin coat layer after the heating fixing process and a drying process of drying the solvent applied to the thin film resin coat layer.
