摘要 <p>A method of continuously reducing oxidic iron ore comprises continuously feeding finely divided iron ore to a primary reactor and then to a secondary reactor, introducing ascending currents of reducing gas to the secondary reactor air of off-gas from the secondary reactor to the primary reactor to maintain fluidized beds in both reactors, the reducing gas being hydrogen or carbon monoxide or a mixture thereof, maintaining a temperature of between 1100 DEG F. and the sticking temperature of the products in both beds, and controlling the conditions to produce FeO in the primary reactor and Fe in the secondary reactor. The fresh reducing gas should have the minimum amount of oxidized products present and the ratios CO2/CO and H2O/H2 are preferably controlled in the off-gas from the secondary reactor to be near the equilibrium value for the reduction of FeO to Fe. The heat necessary may be obtained by heating the one to 1600 DEG F. to 1800 DEG F. and the reducing gas to 1500 DEG F. to 1700 DEG F.</p>
