The present invention is directed to Click-to-Dial service on IPTV. When a valid telephone number (502) appears in the TV picture of user's TV device (501), the telephone number is detected using optical character recognition. If the recognized string is found to be a valid telephone number, a large "Dial" button appears overlaid over the TV picture (503). By pushing a button on a remote control, a call between a user's fixed or mobile phone and the number displayed in the TV picture is initiated.
