Method and device for applying and drying a medium

The method comprises transferring an application medium to a material web (12) such as paper- or cardboard web. The material web provided with the still moist application medium is guided together with a support band (20) through a press nip (24) formed between a pressing roller (22) and a heatable smooth drying cylinder (16). In the press nip, the material web is in contact with its side having the application medium, with the drying cylinder. The material web is guided in connection at the press nip together with the support band around a part of the circumference of the drying cylinder. The method comprises transferring an application medium to material web (12) such as paper- or cardboard web. The material web provided with the still moist application medium is guided together with a support band (20) through a press nip (24) formed between a pressing roller (22) and a heatable smooth drying cylinder (16). In the press nip, the material web is in contact with its side having the application medium, with the drying cylinder. The material web is guided in connection at the press nip together with the support band around a part of the circumference of the drying cylinder that is subjected over an overpressure cap with a fluid or gaseous medium standing under pressure. The application medium is transferred in the area of the pressing roller embraced by the material web from a coating roller on the material web. The application medium is transferred over a free beam on the material web. The dosing of the application medium is carried out over a blade and/or a doctor blade bar. A separating agent is subjected on the drying cylinder in the area of the drying cylinder not embracing by the material web and the support band. A sealing tape existing out of metal is guided together with the support band and the material web to the drying cylinder. A sealing tape is arranged on the side of the support band turned away from the material web. The material web provided with the application medium is guided through two units comprising the coating plant and the drying cylinder, with the assigned overpressure cap. The stability of the material web is controllable and/or adjustable over pressing the pressing roller against the drying cylinder. An independent claim is included for a device for applying a medium on a running material web such as paper- or cardboard web and for drying the medium applied on the material web.
