<p>An EPS 1 has a rack actuator 23 that applies assist force to a rack shaft 5, a column actuator 24 that applies assist force to a column shaft 8, and an ECU 25 that controls operation of the actuators 23, 24 by supplying drive power to motors 21, 22, each of which is a drive source of the corresponding one of the actuators 23, 24. A permanent magnet motor (BLDC) is employed as the motor 21 of the rack actuator 23 and an induction motor 30, which is a non-permanent magnet motor, is used as the motor 22 of the column actuator 24.</p> |
