The unit (1) has a transformer device switched between a home power connector (6) and a low power connector (12). A homeplug switch (13) is arranged in a housing (3) and switched between a home power interface (14) and a network interface (16). The interface (14) is directly connected with the home power connector in an electrically conducting manner. The network interface is arranged outside the housing. The network interface comprises a universal serial bus (USB)connector and a registered jack (RJ)-45connector, and the homeplug switch has a homeplug chip.
