A receiver having a power consumption reduction apparatus using an AGC information and a power consumption reducing method using the same are provided to supply the maximum current continuously in case the jammer is large. The first AGC(Automatic Gain Control) information receiver(710) receives the first AGC information for showing the peak value of a signal before passing through a channel selection filer. The second AGC information receiver(720) receives the second AGC information for showing the peak value of a signal after passing through the channel selection filter. A signal comparison unit(730) compares the amplitudes of signals before and after passing through the channel selection filer by the first and second AGC information.
