The method involves supplying a hydraulic circuit with pressurized air for ensuring pressure increase (P) in the circuit and cutting the supply of the pressurized air. A pressure drop is measured in the circuit for detecting air leakage between an outer wall of a pipe (6) and an inner wall of a receiving inlet (9). A recess is provided in an annular support part at an end of the pipe so that contact of the pipe thrust against a shoulder of the inlet is not sealed.
