Method for operating an automation system

The method involves performing a consistency check by transfer of configuration data (34) or run time data (36) of a development system (26) at a domain controller (38) such that the respective data is transferred to the controller. The controlled acknowledges the data transfer at the development system. An activation of the transferred data is initiated by the development system, and a status, resulting during the activation process, is returned to the development system by the controller. The data is activated for use based on the status by the development system.
