Method for specifying field device addresses

The method involves connecting a decentralized peripheral device to field devices (4-6) over field buses (8-10) e.g. process field bus (PROFIBUS) process automation (PA). Actual addresses stored in the field devices are read and are compared with preset field device addresses, which are stored in the control device. The respective field device addresses are registered in the respective field devices based on the comparison result. An automation system is connected to the decentralized peripheral device over a field bus e.g. PROFIBUS decentralized periphery (DP). An independent claim is also included for a control device for an industrial communication system, including field devices.
