Traceability method for an electronic payment terminal in the event of theft, corresponding computer program and terminal

The method involves detecting flight of an electronic payment terminal by detecting absence of response of a base and/or another terminal during predetermined time gap. Data representative of flight or context of flight is stored in a secured memorized zone of the electronic payment terminal by storing the information related to time stamping of flight, information relative to localization of flight or information relative to nature of flight e.g. identification of the trader. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for traceability of an electronic payment terminal (2) an electronic payment terminal comprising a storage unit for storing data representative of flight or context of flight in a secured memorized zone of the electronic payment terminal.
