A traffic information system and a driving method thereof are provided to transmit a signal to a necessary vehicle even in case of the interference of another signal by transmitting traffic information to the vehicle in local area. In a traffic information system and a driving method thereof, a repeater(10) transmits a traffic information signal. An RFID tag part(20) receives the traffic information signal, and the RFID tag part transmits the traffic information signal the vehicles driving in the road. An RFID reader(30) receives the transmitted traffic information signal by the RFID tag part, and the vehicle sensor(50) senses the status information of the vehicles.
