A hip orthosis (2), provided with a trunk engaging part (6) and an upper leg engaging part (4) which are intercoupled by coupling means (8,10), wherein the coupling (8) comprise at least one resilient element (14) for operatively preventing an adducting movement of an upper leg engaged by the upper leg engaging part by means of spring force.
