A lighting device reducing the number of light sources, a backlight unit adopting the same and a display device employing the backlight unit are provided to secure slimming and thermal stability. A plurality of substrates(10) is arranged in order to be separated from each other. A plurality of light sources(20) is mounted on a plurality of substrates. A transparent unit is formed on the substrate in the upper part of the substrates. The transparent unit passes through the light which is irradiated from light source. The substrate arranged in the lower layer among a plurality of substrates comprises a plurality of mounting parts and a blank part. The blank part is formed between a plurality of mount areas.
