An image processing system comprises a variation calculation unit for calculating the variations of the pixel value of each pixel with respect to adjacent pixels and an edge degree calculating unit for calculating the edge degree for an arbitrary single pixel, in which the degree of certainty whether the single pixel corresponds to an edge undergoes a numeric conversion on the basis of each of the variations of this single pixel and a peripheral pixel group including pixels surrounding the single pixel. The image processing system having this structure can accurately evaluate whether a pixel corresponds to an edge or not, even if the pixel is receiving noise. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009 |
