589,552. Boots and shoes. BECK, M. June 1, 1944, Nos. 10526 and 10527. Convention dates, June 9, 1943, and April 1, 1944. [Class 17 (ii)] The height at the forward outer corner B of the heel of a shoe measured from the tread face to the heel seat 2 is less than other parts of the heel to bring the heel bone, the protuberance of the fifth metatarsal bone and the toe joint of that bone on a straight line when the foot is weighted to prevent flat foot in the wearer. This may be achieved in building up the heel or by attachment of an appropriately shaped lift 3, as shown, to the heel. If desired, instead of imparting the requisite diagonal slope over the whole surface of the tread of the heel it may be confined to the half towards the forward outer corner. An inversely wedge-shaped inset may be placed under the heel of the shoe if the outward slope of the inner sole produced by the heel is undesirable. |
