PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new optically active acrylamide and a method for production thereof, a polymer and a method for production thereof, and an optical isomer-separating agent for chromatography. SOLUTION: The present invention provides an optically active (meth)acrylamide of formula (1) and a method for production thereof, a polymer having 50 wt% or more of a monomer unit of formula (3) and a method for production thereof, and an optical isomer-separating agent for chromatography containing the above polymer. In the formulae, R<SP>1</SP>represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R<SP>2</SP>represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group; R<SP>3</SP>represents a monovalent substituent; R<SP>4</SP>represents a halogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; m represents an integer from 0 to 15; and * represents an asymmetric carbon atom.
