PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high refractive index and low dispersion optical glass which can be stably supplied and has excellent glass stability. SOLUTION: Disclosed is optical glass comprising, by mol%, 0.1 to 40% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 10 to 50% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0 to 10% in total of Li<SB>2</SB>O, Na<SB>2</SB>O and K<SB>2</SB>O, 0 to 10% in total of MgO, CaO, SrO and BaO, 0.5 to 22% ZnO, 5 to 50% La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.1 to 25% Gd<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.1 to 20% Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0 to 20% Yb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0 to 25% ZrO<SB>2</SB>, 0 to 25% TiO<SB>2</SB>, 0 to 20% Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, 0 to 10% Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, >0.1 to 20% WO<SB>3</SB>, 0 to <3% GeO<SB>2</SB>, 0 to 10% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and 0 to 10% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and in which the mass ratio of the SiO<SB>2</SB>content to the B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>content, SiO<SB>2</SB>/B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is≤1, the index of refraction nd is 1.86 to 1.95, and Abbe's numberνd is (2.36-nd)/0.014 to <38.
