The invention relates to a method to extract edelweiss ingredients, use thereof and a composition. It is well known that there are about 30 sub-species among the species of edelweiss. At least in Europe, these species are protected by law and are therefore cultivated. The ingredients extracted therefrom are not only extremely expensive, but they are also overwhelmingly unstable. In this regard, the invention provides assistance via a method comprising the following steps: a. Harvesting the Asian species of edelweiss Leontopodium ochroleuceum and/or Leontopodium leontopoides and/or Leontopodium himalayanum with the leaves, blossoms, stalks, and/or roots, b. Subsequently drying and freeze-drying and processing into powder, c. Extracting the resulting powder with an alcohol solution and agitation thereof for a plurality of hours, in particular 24 hours, d. Separating the solids and optionally concentrating the extracted alcohol solution, e. Stabilizing the solution by way of a preservative containing paraben and optionally completely removing the alcohol. The composition according to the invention is especially suited for dental care. |
