Provided are a fluid identifying apparatus and a fluid identifying method for highly accurately identifying type, concentration, existence and temperature of a fluid which is to be identified and stored in a tank or the like. Characteristic measurement values are obtained as index values indicating characteristics of the fluid to be identified, and the fluid is identified by comparing fluid identifying data, which indicates relationship between a previously measured fluid and the characteristic values of such fluid, with the obtained characteristic measurement values.
