<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can prevent the periphery of a polarizing plate of the back side of a liquid crystal panel from rubbing the surface of an optical sheet even when the optical sheet moves to a facial direction due to vibration or the like. <P>SOLUTION: An optical sheet 3 which makes light emitted by a light source part 5 incident to a liquid crystal panel 1 and a back retention frame 22 having a regulation part 22b which regulates the movement of a sheet support part 22c for supporting the periphery part of the optical sheet 3 and the optical sheet 3 to the facial direction are disposed on the back side of the liquid crystal panel 1 having a display surface 1a on the surface side and having the polarizing plate 1c on the back side, wherein the polarizing plate 1c is formed so as to have a surface area capable of arranging a periphery of the polarizing plate on the part corresponding to at least regulation part 22b.
