HOT RADIATOR STORING YARD GENERATING-APPARATUS

The ceiling portion of a building (3) of a coil yard (1) for storing temporarily hot-rolled coils (2) that is steel intermediate products as the hot radiator to be manufactured in the hot rolling facilities of an iron mill is equipped with a chimney (4) which is formed into a cylindrical portion (4a) having a lower portion formed into a substantial pyramid shape and a top portion extending upward, and a generating turbine (5) is disposed in a desired portion of that cylindrical portion. Intake ports (7) are formed in the lower end portion of the side wall of the building. The hot-rolled coils in the hot state after manufactured are sequentially delivered into the coil yard, and are accumulated and stored till they are transferred to the next step. By the heat held by the hot-rolled coils, the air to be introduced from the intake ports into the building is sequentially heated to establish an upward air flow, so that the generating turbine is rotated to perform the wind power generation by the upward air flow ascending in the cylindrical portion of the chimney. As a result, the heat, which is retained by the hot radiator produced by the heat introduction, can be effectively utilized for the power generation.
