The method involves generating radar fields (19', 19'') by using radar sensor devices (9, 9', 9''), such that one field in parallel direction to door leaves (1a, 1b) and/or an opening is wider than another field. A controlling and/or monitoring of the leaves is carried out based on a maximum opening width of a leaf arrangement comprising the leaves or based on a smaller opening width provided in a determined operating mode. A program for opening and closing of the arrangement is released in an evaluation and/or control device and/or in the sensor devices based on a value for the width. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling and/or monitoring of a movable leaf of a door or window.
