The present invention relates to an extension mechanism for attachment to a spindle member of a machine includes a cylindrical rotary body and an operating rod member mounted inside the cylindrical rotary body in a relatively simple structure, such that it almost does not cause the trouble during the operation, and if the extension of a spindle member is needed in accordance with the shape of the workpiece or the surrounding conditions, the spindle member can be easily extended by the bolt-coupling of the cylindrical rotary body to a spindle of the spindle member, which gives an excellent coupling force between the extension mechanism and the spindle member, thereby conducting the stable machining on the workpiece and achieving a high working efficiency.
