<p>A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display conveniently at a low cost while achieving high contrast over a wide visual angle range. A liquid crystal display is also provided. The method is provided for manufacturing the liquid crystal display having a first polarizer, a first kind double refraction layer, a liquid crystal cell, a second kind double refraction layer, and a second polarizer having an absorption axis intersecting that of the first polarizer perpendicularly, in this order. The method comprises at least one of a first step for producing a first kind double refraction layer by laterally drawing a master roll film composed of a material having positive peculiar double refraction and then bonding the first polarizer and the first kind double refraction layer by roll-to-roll, and a second step for producing a second kind double refraction layer by laterally drawing a master roll film composed of a material having negative peculiar double refraction and then bonding the second polarizer and the second kind double refraction layer by roll-to-roll.</p> |
