PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of sufficiently improving the performance effect of making an object invisible from time to time in the display device for controlling the visibility of the object placed behind a shutter part for changing a light transmission state. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal module 1 as the display device has: a shutter liquid crystal part 4 provided with a plurality of areas where the light transmission state can be changed between an opaque state and a transparent state, for which the transmission state of the respective areas is controlled independent of each other; and a light source part 5 for an object provided with a plurality of light sources for irradiating the object installed behind the shutter liquid crystal part 4 with light. The light sources are provided corresponding to the respective areas. By shutter liquid crystal ON-OFF control signals, the change of the brightness of the respective light sources is controlled in linkage with the control of changing the transmission state of the respective areas.
