PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display for adjusting a wavefront curvature of image light by using a variable focus lens, in which the variable focus lens is disposed at a position appropriate for minimizing the variable focus lens. SOLUTION: The image display is configured to include: a light source unit 12; an image light forming unit 14 forming image light by converting the light exiting from the light source unit into image light representing an image to be displayed; a relay optical system 16 relaying the image light exiting from the image light forming unit, the relay optical system including a pupil where the image light passes; a variable focus lens 50 disposed at the almost same position as the position of the pupil and having a variable focal length; and a wavefront curvature adjusting unit 52 adjusting a wavefront curvature of the image light exiting from the relay optical system by driving the variable focus lens to change the focal length.
