PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for feeding cellulose chips to a high pressure continuous cooking system. SOLUTION: Provided is a method for feeding a cellulosic fibrous material to a high pressure processing vessel including, (a) a step of pressurizing a low pressure flow of the fibrous material by a transfer device, (b) a step of discharging a high pressure flow of the fibrous material from the transfer device to a pressure conduit in fluid communication with the processing vessel, (c) a step of extracting fluid from a slurry of the fibrous material and fluid in the high pressure processing vessel, (d) a step of introducing a first portion of the extracted fluid to a high-pressure inlet of the transfer device, and (e) a step of introducing a second portion of the extracted fluid to a low pressure flow of the fibrous material on the upstream of transfer device.
