The locking device (2) has two base plates on which two side sections (3, 4) are formed for lockable attachment on a switchgear (1). The base plates lie on top of each other and are movably arranged relative and parallel to each other by a guiding unit, so that clamping bases provided on the side sections are movable with respect to the distance between the clamping bases for locking and/or release of the switchgear with respect to a head (5). The base plates have openings and protrusions (26, 28). An adjusting device is provided between the base plates.
