The device (1) has an outer force generator (13) formed by an electric motor (16) e.g. servo linear motor. Another electric motor (17) is activated by an output signal of an electric control unit (5) when an aperture (7) passes through a pressure zone of working rolls (10, 11). The motor (17) is engaged at a position at a lever system (15). Transmission force of the motor (16) acts on the system, and acts against predominant operating pressure such that the rolls are vertically engaged at a distance together, where the distance is larger or equal to measure of a free-wheel slot (12).
