PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal processing apparatus that reduces image adjustment made by a user, by directly acquiring information about an external image display device, and to provide an image processing method. SOLUTION: The image signal processing apparatus includes: a communication means for communicating with the external image display device in order to display image information, subjected to an image signal process, onto the external image display device; a holding means for holding an image adjustment parameter table for the image signal process; an acquisition means for acquiring a required image adjustment parameters from an image adjustment parameter table used for image adjustment according to the image signal process for the external image display device; and a correction means for correcting the parameters for the image signal process on the basis of the acquired image adjustment parameter, thereby performing the image signal process matching the image quality and characteristics of the external image display device.
