PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of enhancing display quality, by interlocking properly an emission brightness change of a backlight with gain setting of an input image signal. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel for displaying an image based on the input image signal, a light source for irradiating the liquid crystal panel, a light source control part (exemplified by a BL brightness level setting part 8, a distortion module 5 and the like) for regulating an emission brightness of the light source, and a gain setting part (exemplified by a configuration design part 13) for gain-setting the input image signal, and the emission brightness of the light source is controlled interlockedly with the gain setting. The liquid crystal display device outputs delayedly a gain set value output from the gain setting part, or a light source brightness signal output from the light source control part, in response to an output delay quantity of the light source brightness signal output from the light source control part, or the gain set value output from the gain setting part.
