PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feed water stand pipe maintenance method for a multistoried building, according to which a feed water stand pipe can be renewed or renovated without using a temporary stand pipe. SOLUTION: According to the method, a pipe portion of a first dwelling unit D<SB>L</SB>and a pipe portion of a second dwelling unit D<SB>R</SB>are connected together by a bypass pipe 1, and by setting a valve V2<SB>L</SB>of the first dwelling unit in a "closed" state, feed water to both the dwelling units D<SB>L</SB>, D<SB>R</SB>is carried out from a second stand pipe A<SB>R</SB>. The above procedure is carried out on each story to ensure feed water to each dwelling unit. Then a valve (first main valve) V1<SB>L</SB>of a first stand pipe A<SB>L</SB>is closed to stop feed water, and in this state the stand pipe A<SB>L</SB>is renewed or renovated. During execution of the maintenance work, feed water to each dwelling unit is carried out by using the existing second stand pipe A<SB>R</SB>, and setting of the temporary stand pipe is not necessary, which contributes to reduction of construction materials and man-power, to thereby reduce construction costs accordingly.
