<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly for improving reliability, mechanical strength and handling ease of a seal in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly includes a polyelectrolyte membrane, a first electrode layer fitted on one face side of the electrolyte membrane, a first porous gas diffusion layer fitted on an opposite side from the electrolyte membrane of the first electrode layer, a second electrode layer fitted on the other face side of the electrolyte membrane and a second porous gas diffusion layer fitted on the opposite side from the electrolyte membrane of the second electrode layer. When a resin frame is provided to surround a whole outer peripheral edge of the electrolyte membrane and a vicinity of at least the first and the second electrode layers of outer peripheral edges of the first and the second gas diffusion layers by die forming to the membrane electrode assembly, a resin frame material is restrained or prevented from entering the gas diffusion layers and/or electrode layers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
