PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing process of a tire by which the tire of high quality can be manufactured. SOLUTION: The manufacturing process includes (1) a process of winding a ribbon 28 made of unbridged rubber around a drum 38 to form a sidewall 32, (2) a process of pressing the lined projection 54 of a plate 48 located at the outside in the radial direction of the drum 38 to the part of a joint 34 of the sidewall 32 to form a groove extended in the axial direction of the drum 38 and (3) a process of pressurizing and heating a low cover including the sidewall 32 where the groove is formed in a mold. In this manufacturing process, preferably the plate 48 has two lined projections 54 extended in the axial direction of the drum 38. These lined projections 54 are arranged in parallel with each other. In the process of forming the groove, these lined projections 54 are pressed while the joint 34 is arranged between these lined projections 54 to form grooves at both sides of the joint 34.
